Ex-White House staffer Alyssa Farah Griffin explained what she claims is the real reason so many Republicans won't leave Donald Trump despite his losing track record — they're making money.
Chatting with her co-hosts of "The View" on Tuesday, the former Trump administration aide said there are too many people making too much cash off of the supporters of Trump.
"As someone who shouted from the rooftops about this, the two most common questions I get are, how is Trump still powerful and why haven't more spoken out against him?" she said.
"It is money and power. So, there's a multibillion-dollar industry around Donald Trump in a way that never existed with any other politician in our lifetime. Yes, he controls the RNC and other party committees, NRCC, but also, there's a revolving door of basically political influencers who came about during the Trump era through him platforming them and amplifying him like, Charlie Kirks and Candace Owens wouldn't have existed without the MAGA side of things."

She noted that there are think tanks and other super PACS set up to help perpetuate MAGAism. One former adviser to Mike Pence has stated in the past that, behind closed doors, Trump actually mocks his MAGA supporters.
"People are making so much money off him despite he's lost for Republicans since 2018," Griffin continued. "I think at the end of the day, it's not so much the fear factor but literally good for their bottom line. I think of some of the most prominent Trump backers, Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, they were all against him in 2016 and realized I'll be more powerful in the Senate and right-wing echo chamber if I just stand by him."
A Washington Post report Monday detailed some of the former Trump officials shocked at how many people still support Trump. Some of them said that they're still unwilling to speak out publicly, however, or do more to campaign against Trump out of fear it will appear they support President Joe Biden.
Bill Barr, for example, said he believes Trump is a danger to the country, but would still vote for him over a Democrat. Former aide to then-chief of staff Mark Meadows, Cassidy Hutchinson, called it, "The most egregious form of partisanship" and shamed him for it.
