Serena Williams approaches motherhood with a court-level dedication, and her latest move shows that in a bold way. The 23-time Grand Slam champion and husband Alexis Ohanian supported their daughter Olympia, 6, with the ultimate game of dress-up, and the pictures are so cute.
Williams and the Reddit co-founder donned 19th century garb and appeared on stage at Olympia’s performance of The Nutcracker on Sunday, per photos obtained by TMZ. The performance took place at a ballet school near Palm Beach Gardens in Florida, where several adults made appearances on stage. Williams and Ohanian were dressed up as party guests during one scene with the little dancers, and Williams even did a curtsy on stage. They reportedly also appeared on stage during the performance on Saturday. (See the adorable photos HERE.)
Ohanian shared a behind-the-scenes video of his costume, a 19th century German aristocrat, on Instagram. “Papa committed to his role in @olympiaohanian’s The Nutcracker ballet ????????????????,” he captioned the post on Instagram.
People praised their dedication. “????????! 14yrs of my daughter in the Nutcracker and you win the award for the most dedicated dad I’ve ever seen!” one person commented.
Someone else wrote, “She will remember this forever! She’s a daddy’s girl.”
On Nov. 10, Williams shared a video on TikTok all dressed up for Olympia.
“I volunteered for Olympia’s ballet. Didn’t quite know what I was getting myself into, but check it out…” she said in the video, followed by footage of her all dressed up in a black hoop dress with a red cape.
“That looks like so much fun. Good for you, mama!” one person commented. “The best mom!” another wrote.
In a Dec. 2022 appearance on the PEOPLE Every Day podcast, the retired tennis champion said, “[Olympia] wants to make sure that I’m aware that I should have time on my hands and I need to spend more time with her. I’m always like, ‘Olympia, I’m not working now.’ She’s like, ‘Yeah, you don’t play tennis!’ She’s like, ‘Yes!’ And I don’t really quite know how to feel about that.”
“It’s funny… but it’s good because little kids really want to be with their parents,” she added. “And I just feel fortunate that she wants to be with me. That’s kind of how I look at it, [because] she could feel a different way, and I’m glad she doesn’t.”
They are definitely soaking up as much time as they can with Olympia and their 3-month-old daughter Adira, and it’s such an inspiration.
