Strictly fans can’t believe Kai Widdrington’s ‘real age’ after it’s revealed on the show
STRICTLY Come Dancing fans were left gobsmacked when pro dancer Kai Widdrington’s age was revealed on the show.
Much has been made of his celebrity partner – Angela Rippon – being the oldest ever contestant in the dance competition at 79, but viewers were just as surprised to learn that Kai is just 28.
After the pair got the boot this weekend, Angela let slip his age in her moving goodbye speech.
One fan commented: “I just found out that Kai is 28 and I’m shook. I CANNOT BELIEVE IT!!”
Someone else wrote: “The biggest shock is that kai is 28.”
Another said: “Kai is 28???? FFS? What????”, while a further person gasped: “Wait what!! He’s 28.”
Kai and Angela went up against Bobby Brazier and Dianne Buswell in the dance off, but ended up getting sent packing.
Speaking afterwards, a very emotional Angela said: “I have had the time of my life, people keep making reference to the fact that I presented Come Dancing, but that was forty years ago, that was a different time! He [Kai] wasn’t even born then!
She continued: “He’s [Kai] an old soul on young shoulders. He’s 28 and I’m 79, there’s a 51-year difference in our ages. He has looked after me so brilliantly, he’s a wonderful dancer and a great choreographer, but he’s a terrific teacher… and he has the patience of a saint!£
Kai joined Strictly in 2021, but first appeared on TV when he was just 16 and reached the final of the sixth series of Britain’s Got Talent.
