Editor’s Note: The Sun Sentinel published a letter to the editor on Nov. 17 from David Wenglekowski of Fort Lauderdale, who strongly defended former President Donald Trump and who thought our latest editorial about him was “sadly one-sided and insanely pro-Biden.” We received several letters in response.
I applaud the Sun Sentinel for publishing David Wenglekowski’s letter. It’s important we hear from the people who cheer on liars, cheats and traitors. His letter ended with: “you should back up your opinions with facts and include examples of proof of your statements.”
That’s quite interesting. Wenglekowski’s assertion that Trump vacated the White House on time omits the “facts” of his exit, such as calling for an insurrection and assault on the U.S. Capitol. (Forget that fact?) It seems he also forgot the “facts” about the classified documents Trump took with him when he vacated the White House. There are troves of evidence that Trump is a traitor.
The “evidence” Trump attempted to interfere with the election with “fake” electors? Did he forget that, too? And where’s the evidence that Joe Biden lies about his positions, conditions in the country and his own background? We’re all entitled to our own opinions, but there’s only one set of facts.

In his letter defending Trump, Wenglekowski states that the Sun Sentinel should back up its opinions with facts. I agree. I think they do. I didn’t see facts in his letter, however.
He calls Biden the worst president of his lifetime. I must disagree in that Biden did not tell his followers to go to the Capitol and fight like hell to overturn a legitimate election. He did not push the big lie that he had won even after every audit said that he lost. He never said he would use the Justice Department to punish those who disagreed with him or throw out our Constitution.
Biden did not try to bribe a foreign leader to get dirt on his opponent. Trump did. These are what are known as facts that indicate Trump is the worst president in our lifetimes.
Biden got the infrastructure bill and the Inflation Reduction Act passed. He achieved a cutting-edge research imitative on cancer and signed legislation to put more cops on the beat. He signed the Electoral Count Act and created more manufacturing jobs in 2022 than in 30 years. He signed the Sexual Violence Against Women Act.
These are some of his many accomplishments. President Biden has not gotten rich off the presidency like former President Trump did. He is worth about $10 million and most of that is from real estate he owned before he took office. Biden reaches across the aisle. Trump wants to burn the aisle down. Vote blue to save our democracy.

Mr. Wenglekowski’s letter was hilarious — hilarious for having one’s head securely in the sand.
Avoiding accountability by saying that it’s simply Trump’s opinion that the election was stolen is preposterous. Numerous Trump lawyers and staff members admitted that they told him there was little evidence of widespread fraud. All sorts of recounts and studies confirmed that there were very few election irregularities. More importantly, Trump’s support of an insurrection to overturn the result has been confirmed numerous times, including in a new ruling in Colorado.
Trump is not being prosecuted for his opinion — he’s being prosecuted for crimes.
To see Biden as a worse liar than Trump means that one slept through four years of lies from Trump, with 30,573 lies in just four years (according to the Washington Post). Biden in comparison? How about comparing Trump’s first 100 days in office to Biden’s first 100 days — 214 lies from Trump and 29 from Biden. Only someone with their head in the sand would see Biden as anywhere near as big a liar as Trump.
In Biden’s time, we’re flush with reports of how strong the economy is. Jobs are way up, inflation is headed back down and wages now outpace inflation. Getting information that isn’t strewn with falsehoods and misinformation is needed by all voters in our great country.

Thank you for your comprehensive, fact-filled, right-on-point editorial about the dangers looming in a potential Trump 2024 presidential win. I for one am scared to death of what could happen to our nation if he is elected. Sadly, his supporters probably have not imagined (or worse, do not care) what our country’s political condition and indeed our personal lives would look like in the months or years ahead, if he were elected again.
