Reminder: renew your memberships for 2024!
If you haven’t done so already, it’s time to renew your club membership for 2024, or if you’ve been waiting to join, now’s the time to do it! It’s a quick process via our website and after renewing, you’ll receive a link to a PDF file of your membership card. You can either print it out by yourself, or you can forward it to Al Wills who has the club laminator and he can bring a printed, laminated copy to a shoot for you.
Remember, the insurance included in your membership is a requirement of Archery Canada, BC Archery, and Saanich Commonwealth (for our indoor shoots). If you’re not a member and not insured, you can’t shoot! So be sure to display your card clearly so we know you’re good to go.

Current members have until December 31 to renew. New memberships purchased between October 1 and December 31 will last until the end of the next calendar year. Lifetime members will need to get a coupon code from our Membership Director. We look forward to another year of archery with all of you! And on that note, our 2024 shooting times are now on the calendar on our website.
Some drop-in shooting news to share
A couple of items to note:
- Monday night drop-in shoots
Due to the popularity of theses sessions, Saanich Commonwealth has now shifted them to a pre-registered drop-in available online. Participants can reserve a spot for each session up to 7 days in advance starting at 8:30 am. See more details and register here. - Outdoor Shooting Invitation!
The Archery Division of the South Vancouver Island Rangers (3498 Luxton Road) will be hosting an Archery Drop in on Saturday, December 16th at 2PM, and Victoria Bowmen members are invited. Cost is $10 per person with non-shooting observers free. Space is extremely limited with shooting at 3 different distances from 10–60m at the same shooting line. About 20 shooters should be able to be accommodated. This is a trial to see how well it works out and could lead to more openings in 2024. If you’d like to participate, contact Al Wills
Helena Myllyniemi inducted into the Victoria Sports Hall of Fame
Our very own Helena Myllyniemi was inducted into the Victoria Sports Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2023 in a ceremony held on October 28th! Helena was recognized for her contributions to the sport of archery as a coach, judge, mentor to so many, and for helping to build our sport in Victoria over more than five decades! If you haven’t had a chance, please congratulate her for this much-deserved recognition when you see her.
Plaques honouring the Class of 2023 will join those of the 260 previous inductees on the concourse walls of Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre.
