'Shoulder problem': Fabrizio Romano provides injury update on €40m Man Utd star

Manchester United expect goalkeeper Andre Onana to be available for the Premier League clash against Everton after the international break, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Cameroon international sustained an injury during the World Cup qualifier against Mauritius on Friday and he was substituted in the 80th minute of the game.

The Indominable Lions have yet to provide an update on his situation, but Romano has revealed that Onana was brought off the field due to a shoulder problem.

The concern is not said to be serious and he is expected to be fit for the upcoming games for United.

Onana’s availability would be a boost for United

The 27-year-old had a disappointing start to his United career. He was guilty of multiple goalkeeping errors which led to criticism from some fans and pundits.

However, the €40 million-rated star has redeemed himself over the past month and looks to be getting back to his best.

Hence, his availability would be a boost for United. Back-up goalkeeper Altay Bayindir has not played a single minute for the Red Devils since his summer arrival.

Bayindir was signed for the deputy role from Fenerbahce, but manager Erik ten Hag has resisted the prospect of playing him. Onana has started every game this term.

The Turkey international should get his chance at some stage but as things stand, Onana appears an undisputed starter for Ten Hag across all competitions.

Bayindir may need to wait until Onana’s departure for African Cup of Nations duty in early January to get his opportunity between the sticks for the Red Devils.
