The Norwegian was participating at the men’s Slalom World Cup in Gurgl, Austria on Saturday.

However, with just five skiers left to go, the event was disrupted by protesters.

Kristoffersen, his nation’s most successful slalom skier, was left fuming at the interruption.

The 29-year-old was visibly agitated and could be seen storming towards the protesters.

But as he approached the crowd he was held back by security personnel and police.

One commentator on Eurosport said: “He just loves the sport so much. He’s getting upset by it.”

A co-host added: “That’s the type of skier that this young lad is. He wears his heart on his sleeve.”

Speaking to Norway’s national broadcaster NRK, he said: “Say what you want, vote and try to change things from there. But don’t ruin it for people. It’s completely disgusting.”

Men’s race director Markus Waldner told Austrian TV that the International Ski and Snowboard Federation would reconsider its safety measures at races.

He added that the result of the event, won by Austria‘s Manuel Feller, had not been impacted by the protest.

Austria dominated the podium with a one, two, three finish to end the sports longest-ever drought after failing to win in 17 World Cup races.

Feller won by 0.23 seconds from second place Marco Schwarz and Michael Watt in third at the new Kirchenkar course.

Kristoffersen won the men’s slalom title at the 2023 FIS Alpine Ski World Championships in February.
