A PASSENGER says they were slammed for not moving to allow a kid to take their seat on a plane.
Posting on Reddit she explains how she was waiting at the airport in front of her gate.
The mother kept saying how ‘selfish I am’ she wrote (stock image)[/caption]She said: “So, I was sitting with my friend at the airport in front of our gate, waiting for a flight.
She added: “I had admittedly had a bad day so was already not in a great mood at the time.
“My friend and I were sitting next to each other, and had our bags on the seat on her other side.”
A family of three including a seven-year-old had sat down across from them.
She claims because ‘there were only two open seats’ across from them – they moved their bags which were on the seat next to them to make room for the child.
But the child was not sitting down she says.
She writes in the post: “The mother and father sat down in the seats while their son was running around, as young kids do.”
All looked normal and then according to the passenger out of nowhere the mother came up to them and started to have a go.
She said: “About 5 min later, out of nowhere, the mother comes up to me and my friend and starts berating me for not moving seats so her son could sit “closer” to her – as she was sitting directly across from me.”
She later added: “Mind you, the seat we cleared up was literally 2 seats down from mine, and there were free seats next to it.”
She tried to tell the mother that they had made an effort to move their bags so the child could sit.
She says she was confused as to why this mother was attacking her for something so trivial.
She added: “She keeps saying how selfish I am and I argue back at her that she’s being ridiculous until her husband steps in and pulls her away.”
After they had stopped arguing she claims it was awkward between them.
She admits that she was ‘very annoyed’ and kept looking at her and then proceeding to roll her eyes and scoff at her.
She finally writes: “I thought she was completely unjustified to ask us to move when there were plenty of other free seats in the area.
“But my friend told me that we were “two stressed-out women” and both of us were in the wrong.”
The Reddit post has received hundreds of comments and the majority support the passenger’s behaviour.
One person commented: “Giving up your seat is optional, and frankly, those parents were pretty shi**y for taking the seats themselves – instead of letting their kid use one of them.”
Others pointed out how easily the problem of the child sitting to from his mother could’ve been solved.
One wrote: “If your party is two adults and a child and there are two seats together and a third separate but nearby – then the obvious solution is to have one adult and the child sit in the two seats together and one adult sit in the separate seat.”
They later added: “It’s not like she and her husband can’t sit 6 feet across an aisle while waiting for a plane.”
While another person commented: “I would rather sit on the nasty *ss airport floor myself than bully someone out of a seat either way.
“People are so strange.”
