TRISH BALUSA was a key player in the 2023 edition of Big Brother and was even favourite to win the whole show at one point in the series.
After controversial social media posts were unearthed following her eviction, however, Trish suffered a fall from grace and was not seen at the final of the ITV2 reality show on November 17.
Big Brother contestants who have been evicted normally show up to the series finale to watch as the winner is crowned.
On Friday, November 17, Jordan Sangha was revealed as the winner of the first series of Big Brother since it was rebooted by ITV.
A number of Jordan’s past housemates returned for the finale but Trish was nowhere to be seen.
Ahead of the episode, The Sun revealed that Trish had had her invite to the final withdrawn by show bosses.
The decision reportedly came after ‘racist and homophobic’ tweets from Trish’s past resurfaced, leading production to feel it would be “inappropriate” to have her in the audience with the rest of the cast.
An insider explained: “Trish was keen to attend but production decided it was best if she didn’t come and told her she was no longer invited.
“They didn’t want to look like they were endorsing Trish’s opinions, even though she has apologised for them, and they felt it was a distraction from the final.
“Trish was disappointed but she respects the show’s wishes and will be there in spirit.”
Trish’s absence from the final came after she was also banned from appearing on Big Brother spin-off show Late and Live.
She had been due to appear on the show alongside Chanelle Bowen, who had been evicted from the Big Brother house on the same night as her.
Trish was evicted from the Big Brother house on Friday, November 10.
Fans were left furious that she had been voted out, as they had previously been backing her to win the whole show.
Shortly after her eviction Trish’s offensive historic tweets were unearthed, leading many of her fans to turn on her.
The Sun does not wish to repeat the content of Trish’s shocking messages.
The social media posts, which date back to 2012, include references to Asian people and lesbians, as well as vile Hitler tweets.
Trish has issued several apologies since her old tweets surfaced,
The weekend after her eviction she wrote on Twitter: “I’m aware that some very concerning old tweets of mine have resurfaced and I would like to sincerely apologise for the harmful stereotypes I perpetuated and the pain I have cause to the marginalised communities and groups of people mentioned.
“There are no excuses for the ignorance that I showed and I am deeply disappointed, embarrassed and ashamed that I once made such comments.
“I have come a very long way since by educating myself and being educated by others on the impact and harm these views cause.
“It is part of the reason why I am so passionate about standing up for others and holding myself to a high standard of responsibility and accountability for my actions.
“I appreciate the support you’ve all given me on the show and I understand you feel disappointed.
“I know apologies can seem convenient in these circumstances but I mean it from the bottom of my heart; I am truly sorry.
“I hope it is possible for you to offer me grace and believe that people can change.
“I am committed to being the person I am now, the person you have known me as – someone who speaks up, stands for what they believe in and is always open to growth and accountability. Love Trish.”
She later gave an interview to The Independent where she admitted she was in “shock” when reading her vile messages back.
Trish said: “I was so shocked…I think for the first time, I looked in the mirror and I saw in myself, the people that I criticise and the things that I stand against.
“You express a view [on social media] and then you’re done you move on from it, and then maybe you learn, you change, challenge yourself, you gain different experiences.
“You don’t get to go back and elaborate on that view.
“You don’t get to go back and say: ‘actually, according to my experiences now or the people I’ve learned that people have educated me, this is what I think now'”.
Trish added that she would be sitting down to have conversations with some of her Big Brother housemates regarding the content of her old posts.
She said of those conversations: “Hopefully, I could rely on the fact that they know my heart…They know who I am”.
