Meghan Markle stepped out solo on Thursday night at Variety‘s Power of Women event in Los Angeles. As an alumnus from last year, where she got her own cover in the magazine, the Duchess of Sussex was thrilled to honor this year’s class of women, including Fantasia Barrino, Billie Eilish, and Carey Mulligan.
Even though Prince Harry was not by her side, he was definitely in her thoughts as she teased her next steps in Hollywood during her red-carpet interview. “Things that make people feel– I was going say ‘good,’ but it’s more than that, things that make people feel something, right?” She explained, “And feel a sense of community.” Meghan and Harry have, so far, produced three projects with Netflix: Heart of Invictus, Live to Lead, and their wildly successful docuseries, Harry & Meghan.
Those joint projects are likely going to continue because Meghan tossed around the “we” word quite a bit in her interview. “But we have so many exciting things on the slate. I can’t wait until we can announce them, but I’m just really proud of what we’re creating,” she added. “My husband is loving it, too. It’s really fun.” The one thing the Duchess of Sussex did not hint at was a return to acting, even when she was asked about the success of Suits on Netflix and Peacock.
“Isn’t that wild?” she responded to the incredible revelation that the former USA series now has 45 billion minutes streamed under its belt. “It was great to work on, such a great cast and crew. We had a really fun time. I was on it for seven seasons, so quite a bit. But it’s hard to find a show you can binge-watch that many episodes of these days, so that could have something to do with it,” Meghan praised the former show where she played paralegal Rachel Zane. “But good shows are everlasting.” Meghan is hoping to recapture that Hollywood magic again, but this time with projects she and Harry are driving. For now, though, it’s a waiting game.
