Police said the victim suffered a bullet wound to a leg in the Canal neighborhood incident.
A shooting in San Rafael injured a man on a street in the Canal neighborhood, police reported Monday.
The incident happened at about 11:10 p.m. Sunday on Novato Street, according to San Rafael police Sgt. Justin Graham. Witnesses told police the occupants of a vehicle were yelling at people in the street, possibly for gang-related reasons, when gunfire ensued, Graham said.
“Several of the shots fired struck the ground and struck the side of a parked car,” he said. “One of the bullets that struck the ground is believed to have ricocheted and struck the victim.”
Medics took the man to a hospital with a bullet wound to an upper leg. He is expected to survive.
Police found bullet casings, bullet fragments and alcohol containers in the area. Investigators were trying to identify suspects Monday.
