Police have arrested a Richmond teen in connection with an armed robbery in Tiburon.
The crime happened Friday after the victim withdrew money from the Bank of America cash machine in Strawberry, according to the Tiburon Police Department. Police suspect the teen and an accomplice followed the victim from the Chevron gas station to the cash machine and then to his home on Janet Way in Tiburon.
The robber emerged from the car with a gun and demanded money from the victim, police said. Investigators allege the robber fire one shot, but it did not hit the victim, said police spokesperson Laurie Nilsen. The victim gave up $500.
The alleged conspirators drove off, and police alerted other law enforcement agencies to look for the Kia they were traveling in. Police in Richmond located the vehicle and found one suspect inside. Investigators booked the 17-year-old boy into Marin County Juvenile Hall on suspicion of robbery, conspiracy and being an accessory.
Investigators impounded the Kia, a Hertz rental vehicle, and are working to identify the second conspirator.
