DEAR DEIDRE: MY colleague is making my life a misery but I worry her behaviour would get worse if I report her to my boss.
I am a 33-year-old woman and have Asperger’s.
I find certain social situations challenging and I have to work harder to express what I mean. I often worry about being misunderstood.
The workplace is a tough environment for me to deal with at times.
I regularly feel isolated and alone. I work in a café in a very busy shopping centre.
I enjoy my job, but have a volatile relationship with one colleague.
She shows a total lack of understanding towards my condition. She is abrupt and rude, or ignores me completely.
If I become upset she calls me a cry-baby. I now dread going to work.

Everyone should be treated with dignity and respect.
Your colleague is making you miserable, so your best option is to talk to your boss or your HR department.
I know you are worried but her behaviour won’t stop until you do and you’ll end up ill or forced out of your job if her treatment continues.
Put together a diary of when these events happen, including dates and times. Your boss should investigate.
