Cesar Vanneste was born in Belgium in 1938, and vividly remembers his country being liberated from Nazi occupation by Canadian and Polish soldiers when he was just six years old. He lived close to the Ypres trenches, and remembers the soldiers marching down his street as he sat on his front stoop.
