We’re already so in love with Dolly Parton’s unexpected rocker era, from the tidbits she’s shared on Instagram to her stylish performances. And it seems we may have her husband Carl Dean to thank for this!
In a recent interview with ABC News via the Mirror, the Behind the Seams: My Life in Rhinestones author talked about how while she’s always loved rock music, her husband was the one to influence her to make a full rock album. “I grew up with him, you know, through the years with him of just hearing all that great music,” she said. “Of course I knew about rock before, in my early days – Elvis and Jerry Lee and all of them – but it was Carl that really made me make that final decision to think, ‘You know what? I’ve got this great opportunity to do this, and I’m just gonna do it.'”
Parton’s 30-track album Rockstar will be released on Nov 17, 2023, and she’s collaborating with a bunch of rockstars like Paul McCartney, Sting, Stevie Nicks, Pat Benatar, and her own goddaughter Miley Cyrus. And her husband has already given the album his seal of approval!
For those who don’t know, Parton and Dean met back in 1964, and started dating quite soon after. On May 30, 1966, they tied the knot in Ringgold, Georgia, and have been together ever since! Despite having one of the longest A-list romances, they keep their relationship impressively under wraps from the public.
While Parton has shared a throwback picture here and there, Dean keeps a low profile. She told Entertainment Tonight earlier this year that Dean is bit of a “loner.” She said, “He’s kind of a loner, so he doesn’t really like being with anybody but me. He’s not one to kind of get out there and socialize that much. He loves living on the farm, taking care of the property as he has for all these many years.”
