A BUDGETING pro has shown her followers how to tackle rising energy costs without breaking the bank.
The single mom shared her recent purchase, which she said has helped to warm up her space.
In her video, the TikToker, who goes by This Mum Cooks (@thismumcooks), explained that as the weather continues to get colder her “thoughts have turned to keeping warm this winter.”
The UK-based woman discussed the rising cost of living as she unboxed her latest purchase.
“Energy costs are still through the roof,” she told her followers.
She continued: “Keeping warm in the winter can be as simple as putting something under your feet.
“So I’ve decided to get my boys a rug for their bedroom because their bedroom floor is laminate and I can’t afford to put carpet down to keep it extra warm this winter.”
The gray shaggy rug is available for just $7 from Nemu and can also be found on the TikTok Shop.
She told viewers: “If you have wooden or laminate floors buy a mat to put under your feet while sitting on the sofa.
“I promise you it makes a difference, you are insulating yourself from the cold running underneath your floorboards.”
Showing her followers the rug in her sons’ bedroom, she said: “Now they don’t have a huge bedroom but look how amazing this rug looks in the room.
“It is so soft you would never believe this came out of that package.”
She also revealed to her audience that the budget-friendly rug is machine washable.
“I have one in my kitchen where I spend most of my time,” she added.
TikTok users took to the comments section to share their thoughts on the product.
“I got one a couple of years ago for the spare room, for when the grandkids come to stay. Makes a big difference,” wrote one viewer.
Another follower said: “We got a rug like this and the amount of Lego pieces and small stuff that got lost is mental!”
However, a third person wasn’t completely sold, pointing out that the rug may be “difficult to clean.”
