Billionaire tech mogul Peter Thiel, who was a major donor to Donald Trump during the 2016 election, says he will not be making any political donations to Republicans in 2024.
Thiel donated $1.25 million to Trump in 2016. Speaking to The Atlantic, he said voting for Trump was "like a not very articulate scream for help."
“There are a lot of things I got wrong,” Thiel said. “It was crazier than I thought. It was more dangerous than I thought. They couldn’t get the most basic pieces of the government to work. So that was—I think that part was maybe worse than even my low expectations.”
Thiel said that Trump had called him earlier this year looking for $10 million, but Thiel turned him down. He says he heard that Trump later called him a “f---ing scumbag.”
