Marin County detectives arrested two suspects during an investigation into fentanyl and methamphetamine sales.
The arrests happened Wednesday at a shopping center on Shoreline Parkway in San Rafael, where an undercover detective with the Marin County Specialized Investigative Unit arranged to buy 6 ounces of crystal methamphetamine from him for $1,000, according to the sheriff’s department.
Detectives arrested Christopher Isaac Ramos-Banegas, 18, of Oakland after the transaction. His girlfriend, Ingrid Adrianna Vasquez, who was in the passenger seat of their vehicle, tried to start the vehicle and flee, the sheriff’s department said. Investigators arrested her too. They also seized about 6 ounces of suspected crystal meth and determined that both suspects were carrying knives.
Ramos-Banegas and Vasquez, a 21-year-old San Rafael resident, were booked into the Marin County Jail on suspicion of drug possession for sale, transporting drugs and conspiracy. Ramos-Banegas remained in custody Friday in lieu of $30,000 bail. Vasquez was not in custody.
