John Stamos just shared the sweetest throwback photo of him and his Full House on-screen niece Michelle, played by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, as a toddler. The absolutely adorable picture caused an uproar in the comments section for a funny reason — people couldn’t figure out which twin was pictured!
Stamos wears a jean jacket vest over a black leather jacket in the photo, as he sits on a chair on set of Full House. Mary-Kate or Ashley sits on his lap, dressed in a matching jean jacket and jeans covered with colorful bows. Her blonde hair is up in two ponytails as she smiles for the camera, big blue eyes shining brightly. Stamos captioned the photo, sparking chaos: “#TBT Love this pic, but I can’t tell which Olsen this is. Help?” Yeah, he knew what he was doing!
Some people couldn’t tell at all: “Oh! It’s gotta be either Mary Kate or Ashley. Definitely not Elizabeth. Hope this helps narrow it down!” one person quipped.
Another person commented, “my only talent is being able to tell them apart. that’s ashley 🥰😇.”
Still, others disagreed. “I’d say Mary-Kate. You can faintly see a little freckle under her nose. Ashley didnt have that,” one person wrote. Someone else responded, “I don’t know what kind of 100/100 vision you have, but I don’t see a freckle in sight.”
“It’s Mary Kate ???? Mary has darker hair than her sister,” someone else said, while another disagreed, “To me they’ve always looked distinctly different That’s Ashley.”
Someone else said, “it’s 100% Ashley,” adding, “Lol as an Olsen obsessed millennial this is my best skill 😂.”
As a previous card-carrying member of the Mary-Kate and Ashley fan club — who owned all the Barbie dolls, makeup, clothes, VHS tapes, and posters of the twins growing up — I also say it’s Ashley. I can’t describe it, it’s just something you instinctively know if you grew up as obsessed with the Olsen twins as me and my fellow millennials did.
One comment that garnered over 4,000 likes said, “This is definitely Michelle 😂😂.” We can all agree on that!
In August, the If You Would Have Told Me author shared a heartwarming video of the twins. “Watching Mary-Kate and Ashley grow into the incredibly bright and remarkable women they are today has been one of the greatest joys of my life,” the actor and musician wrote on Instagram. “If you would have told me those blue-eyed babies I met on set nearly 40 years ago would still be in my life at 60 years old, I wouldn’t have believed you. I am blessed.”
Aww, it’s so sweet! He also congratulated Ashley and her husband Louis Eisner on the birth of their baby boy named Otto. Maybe one day we’ll get a recreation picture of Stamos and Otto in a super cute full circle moment.
