IT is said that giving is better than receiving, with many of us feeling extra generous during the festive season.
Despite this, a woman and her family have been relentlessly trolled after sharing the incredible Christmas gifts they donated.
It seems no good deed goes unpunished on the internet.[/caption]The cruel barbs started back in late 2021, when influencer Sydney Angela revealed how her mum had rallied around to help families who were struggling to afford the basics.
With many parents still suffering after the pandemic, Angela and her loved ones had stock piled an incredible amount of Christmas gifts – even storing them at their home before distributing them.
In a short clip on TikTok, the young student showed the house filed with sacks of the latest must-have toys for kids in the local area.
As the tour continued, she showed endless plastic bags brimming with goodies for those who would have otherwise gone without presents.
Other rooms were littered with boxes of Nerf guns and Barbie dream houses, with the garage also filled with bikes of all sizes – costing thousands of pounds.
Even more amazingly, in the caption the influencer implied that the donation was an annual tradition and joked: “It’s that time.”
The heart-warming gesture would soon go viral, gaining over 3.1 million likes on the app, but sadly this didn’t stop them from being targeted by trolls.
Almost immediately though, commenters began to speculate about the family’s generous act.
One particularly cruel commenter even accused Sydney’s loved ones of showing off, pointedly writing: “You’re flaunting your wealth.”
“Tax write offs,” said another troll as the short clip continued to circulate online.
“They own business,” stated a third, adding: “Charity is always done for their own business gains.”
Meanwhile, some made nasty jokes about the family’s finances and even asked for eye wateringly expensive gifts.
Adding three skull emojis, a fourth commented: “POV Her credit card: what have you done to me.”
“Is that Lucas is Marcus‘s old house,” teased a fifth user, with a sixth asking: “Do you have an Apple watch…if you do, can I have it please pretty please?”
Despite this, many were in awe of the TikToker and her family’s kind gesture.
The heartwarming gesture happened just after the pandemic.[/caption]In the comments, some users even recalled receiving similar donations as a kid.
“This is so sweet. I remember looking forward to getting gifts like these every December when my mom couldn’t even afford a bed for me,” read one heart-breaking comment.
Some were eager to get involved with the tradition, with a user taggerign their friend and gushing: “I wanna do this or donate to something like this when we’re making money.”
Others just had kind words for Sydney and her family and were touched by the incredible act.
“What a wholesome amazing person,” said an inspired user, adding: “Words can’t even describe how amazing and unselfish your family is.”
Despite the caption, it’s unclear whether the influencer and her loved ones kept up this incredible tradition.
Here’s hoping that they were able to without being targeted by trolls online.
