LAGOS DSVA ORGANISES “MEN WEY SABI” CAMPAIGN FOR TRADERS AT DOPEMU ALUMINIUM MARKET
…. Restates Commitment to Curb Gender-Based Violence
Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has reiterated its continuous efforts to curb the menace of Gender-Based Violence through behavioural mindset programmes, sensitisation and training of relevant stakeholders.
The Executive Secretary of DSVA Mrs.Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi stated this recently in her address at the “MEN WEY SABI” campaign organised by the Agency for Trdaers at Aluminium Market in Dopemu area of the State over the weekend.
Vivour-Adeniyi, represented at the event by Mr. Adewusi Damilare, said the purpose of the advocacy was to address gender stereotypes that are expected to build peaceful homes where mutual love and respect remain sacrosanct in the State.
Emphasising that it is a collective responsibility to empower women, she stressed that society, leaders and residents should foster gender equality. She also highlighted men’s pivotal roles in ending domestic and sexual violence while also promoting effective partnerships in marriages.
“Our primary objective is to spread the message in a spirited manner, challenge stereotypes regarding men’s involvement in childcare and the essence of marriage partnership”, Vivour-Adeniyi affirmed.
President of the Aluminum Village Market, Mr. Awojobi Tajudeen appreciated Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration for ensuring that the society is conducive for both genders to thrive.
The highlight of the event was the cooking competition sponsored by Power Oil Nigeria Limited where men showcased their culinary skills, diaper-changing and doll-dressing ability to care for a child without their spouses.
Mr. Atitobi Surajudeen Adedimeji, who emerged as the winner of the cooking competition, appreciated the agency for bringing the initiative to Dopemu Market.
