Jamie Carragher lavished praise on Guglielmo Vicario for some of the saves he pulled off against Chelsea.
Even though the history books will say that Chelsea beat Spurs 4-1 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the Lilywhites have undoubtedly come out of the game with more credit than their opponents.
Despite being down to nine men for the final 35 minutes of normal time, the home side did not stop trying to create chances. Tottenham can consider themselves unlucky not to draw level as they came close on a couple of occasions.
Vicario proved his worth, sweeping impressive behind Spurs’ high defensive line and pulling off a few outstanding saves.
This included one in either half against Nicolas Jackson when he was one-on-one with the Italian but the 27-year-old’s best save arguably came against Marc Cucurella as he was lightning quick out of his line to smother the Spaniard’s short.
Carragher could not quite believe what he was watching from Vicario in the second half.
Omg what a game!!!!

Vicario showed yet again that he has absolutely no weaknesses at all. His shot-stopping is outstanding, he is very calm with the ball at his feet, he is an excellent sweeper and he is top-class in one-on-one situations, knowing exactly when to come out.
