COPS quizzed serial killer Levi Bellfield yesterday in a bid to find the grave of an alleged victim.
They visited him in jail hoping that he can lead them to the body of Elizabeth Chau, who vanished in 1999.
Cops have quizzed serial killer Levi Bellfield in a bid to find the grave of alleged victim Elizabeth Chau[/caption] Bellfield confessed this March to killing 19-year-old student Elizabeth[/caption]Bellfield — serving life for three murders — confessed this March to killing her.
It is the second time that officers probing the disappearance of Elizabeth, 19, in Ealing, West London, have questioned Bellfield.
He is understood to have repeated his claims that the Thames Valley University student’s body was buried at a nature reserve near the Kempton Park racecourse in Surrey.
A source said: “Police are taking it very seriously.
“The signed confession has detail only the killer would know.
“Bellfield co-operated and repeated that he abducted and killed her.
“He has drawn maps but it is a big area.
“One of the things they are weighing up is whether they can sort a video link and get him to guide them to the spot, or even taking him out of prison.
“The case is unsolved and Elizabeth disappeared in an area close to where Bellfield carried out other attacks, so it clearly fits his profile.”
Bellfield, 55, is serving life for the murders of Milly Dowler, 13, Marsha McDonnell, 19, and Amelie Delagrange, 22.
His lawyer said he is “co-operating fully” and the “interview is mainly to do with the whereabouts of the body”.
Met Police are taking Bellfield’s claims “very seriously”.
