SIR PAUL McCARTNEY feared he wiped out a pensioner when he was performing his Bond song Live And Let Die – due to an enormous explosion.
The Beatles legend had a huge pyrotechnics set-up during a gig where he played the 1973 track, and said he thought the loud noise would prove too much for the OAP.
Sir Paul McCartney feared he wiped out a pensioner when he was performing his Bond song Live And Let Die – due to an enormous explosion[/caption]Paul, who is on course for No1 this Friday with the Fab Four’s final song Now And Then, said on his A Life In Lyrics podcast: “It’s a big song for us.
“We have pyrotechnics and it can get a little hot up there.
“As we know the explosions are going to happen, we look at the people in the front row and then “boom”.
“It’s great to just watch them and they look at each other and they are just shocked.
“In the early days we did it and there was an explosion.
“I noticed when we started it there’s like a 90-year-old woman, very old, in the front row.
“I suddenly go, ‘Oh, s**t, we’re gonna kill her’.
“I can’t stop the song and go, ‘Cover your ears love’.
“I look away and ‘boom’.
“Then I look back to her and she is loving it.”

Margot looked like she was enjoying taking a break from work after spending months promoting Barbie over the summer.
The film, which also starred Ryan Gosling, went on to make more than a billion dollars at the global box office.

Alongside a flirty video where she modelled the underwear, Helen wrote: “Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it’s better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring.”
Things certainly weren’t boring for her at the weekend, after she crashed her car.
Helen said: “My dad’s just gone to get the children.
“I couldn’t go, I couldn’t drive . . . it wasn’t a big deal but I crashed my car.
“The kids were fine, I was fine but I was pumpkin picking and all I did was reverse into a piece of wood because I can’t park to save my life.
“I just thought I’d scratched my car but I took the whole of my bonnet off.”
TAYLOR SWIFT has become the most decorated female artist in MTV EMA history.
Sunday’s ceremony, which had been due to take place in Paris, was cancelled last month due to the Israel-Gaza conflict.
But the winners were announced online.
Taylor was the big winner, scooping awards for Best Artist, Best Live and Best Video, for Anti-Hero.
It was the first time since the EMAs launched in 1994 that the ceremony did not go ahead, having even taken place during Covid.
Other awards went to Nicki Minaj for Best US Act, Jung Kook’s Seven took Best Song and Billie Eilish won Best Pop.
It came just days after Taylor scored the fastest-selling album of the year with 1989 (Taylor’s Version), which topped the charts in the UK and US.

The Rolling Stones have no plans to slow down after their new album Hackney Diamonds went straight to the No1 spot, according to Keith Richards[/caption]And ahead of his 80th birthday next month, the guitarist revealed he is already working on new tunes with bandmates Sir Mick Jagger and Ronnie Wood.
Even though Ronnie is now suffering from arthritis issues, he is confident of fighting his way through pain to deliver powerful riffs.
Keith said: “There’s plenty more stuff left over from Hackney Diamonds to work on.
“There’ll always be another one until we drop.”
Asked if he still enjoys performing, Keith added: “Yeah man, I love it. It keeps me on my toes and keeps my fingers moving.
“And I’m still finding different ways of playing things.
“Even though you’re getting to be around 80, believe me, it don’t stop.
“I’ve still got my band, man.
“I’ve got a band that’s lasted longer than anybody else’s in the damn world.”
The Dartford-raised rocker, speaking to Sirius XM NPR, said they get tetchy if there is no work on the horizon.
He added: “We can put our feet up for a little bit, but you know . . . you’re into this thing all the way.
“This is what we do.
“We’ve got to see this Rolling Stones through.
“I wish I could explain the ins and outs.”
SLIPKNOT drummer Jay Weinberg has left the US heavy metal group under mysterious circumstances, with the band calling it a “creative decision”.
Jay joined in 2014, replacing Joey Jordison, who was considered “arguably the best drummer in the world” by fans.
But the group issued a statement on their website, which revealed they had decided to “part ways”.
The post said: “We would like to thank Jay Weinberg for his dedication and passion over the past ten years.
“No one can ever replace Joey Jordison’s original sound, style or energy.
“But Jay honoured Joey’s parts and contributed to the last three albums.
“We, the band, and the fans appreciate it.
“But as ever, Slipknot is intent on evolving.
“The band has decided to make a creative decision, and to part ways with Jay.
“We wish Jay all the best and are very excited for what the future holds.”
