FORTNITE is one of the most popular games in the world, and it’s so successful that people didn’t think it could get any better.
However, the latest update appears to have proven people wrong, as the free-to-play battle royale has reached new heights.
Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 5 took the game back to basics, bringing back the original map from Chapter 1.
Old weapons, skins, and vehicles returned, and the season will change every week.
It seems that this nostalgic throwback struck a chord with fans, as more people got in the game than ever before.
Almost 45million players jumped in for a match on the day of the new season’s launch, which is an all-time peak for the game.
Together they played 102million hours worth of Fortnite, meaning the average person played for over two hours.
Fortnite took to Twitter to write: “Way to start things off with a big bang! We’re blown away by the response to Fortnite OG.
“Yesterday was the biggest day in Fortnite’s history with over 44.7 MILLION players jumping in and 102 MILLION hours of play.
“To all Fortnite players, OG and new, THANK YOU!”
Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 5 will continue on until the start of December, so there is still some time to enjoy the game’s original map.
However, each week will change to a different season from Chapter 1, changing up the map and adding new weapons and items.
