Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the President of Uzbekistan, has recently addressed the ongoing challenges in Afghanistan, emphasizing that the strategic stability and security in the region hinge upon establishing peace and tranquillity in Afghanistan.
According to Uzbekistani media reports, the President of the country addressed the tenth summit of the Turkic Council on Sunday. During his speech, he expressed concerns that the international community is overlooking the existing challenges in Afghanistan.
According to him, “With the escalation of war and insecurity in other countries, the issues facing the people of Afghanistan have increasingly fallen outside the scope of attention and focus of the international community.”
Shavkat Mirziyoyev, in his address at the tenth summit of the Turkic Council, referred to Afghanistan as a “multi-ethnic” country with deep historical and cultural ties to Turkic nations.
Uzbekistani media, quoting him, have reported that “the establishment of peace and tranquillity in the multi-ethnic land of Afghanistan, which has been interwoven for thousands of years with historical and cultural connections to Turkic peoples, is a fundamental condition for ensuring strategic stability and security in our region.”
This comes at a time when, following the emergence of the Taliban administration in Afghanistan, the people in this country are grappling with multifaceted crises, including poverty, unemployment, gender inequality, the risk of sexual harassment and abuse, and a widespread crisis of repression and oppression.
