CalcioMercato have claimed that Juventus are not confident about their chances of securing Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s signature in January.
While Hojbjerg has been heavily linked with a move to Juve for the past month and a half, over recent weeks, some Italian outlets have stated that the transfer might prove more complicated than it initially seemed.
This includes an update last week by the print edition of Gazzetta Dello Sport (via Sport Witness) which explained that even though the Old Lady had begun work on a deal to sign the Tottenham man, the transfer is proving anything but straight-forward.
This is because Spurs have no intention of loaning out the 28-year-old and insisting on a permanent sale.
Meanwhile, Tottenham’s €30m (£26m) asking price for Hojbjerg was also said to be excessive for Juve, who were trying to get the Lilywhites to ‘soften’ their stance.
CalcioMercato have now claimed that the Bianconeri are ‘trying to test the waters’ for the Denmark international but as things stand, they are ‘not so optimistic’ about the deal.
This is because Tottenham have not yet given the green light for Hojbjerg to leave, with the publication alleging that Spurs consider the midfielder an ‘important’ player even though he is not a regular starter at the moment.

Tottenham will be without both Yves Bissouma and Pape Sarr for a couple of weeks in January during the African Cup of Nations. So, I doubt Postecoglou would want to let Hojbjerg leave without first bringing in a replacement.
