Report: Feyenoord’s stance on Santiago Gimenez amid Tottenham interest
90 min have revealed that Feyenoord are confident they will hang on to Santiago Gimenez at least until the end of the season.
Various sources over the last few months have reported on Tottenham’s interest in Gimenez, and Fabrizio Romano confirmed on his YouTube channel last week that Spurs have indeed had their eye on the Mexican international for a long time.
A few days ago, The Daily Mirror even asserted that Spurs have already decided to pay Feyenoord’s asking price for the 22-year-old striker in January.
The outlet claimed that the Lilywhites are convinced that Gimenez is the man to fill Harry Kane’s shoes after scouting him this season.

However, 90 min have now asserted that despite the interest that their star striker is generating around Europe, Feyenoord are hopeful of holding on to him in January.
The publication states that the Dutch club have put a ‘prohibitive price tag’ on Gimenez, making it clear to potential suitors that he would only be sold if someone stumps up a record fee for an Eredivisie player, overtaking the £87m that Man Utd paid to sign Anthony from Ajax.

Man Utd considerably overpaid for Anthony and it is not realistic to expect any club to pay a similar amount for Gimenez, despite his astonishing record in front of goal. I would be surprised if any club was willing to pay more than £50m for the Mexican in January.
