Match Preview: Taunton Town vs Farnborough
Farnborough are back on the road this weekend as they make the trip to Somerset to take on Taunton Town.
November kicks off with an away trip for The Yellows after back-to-back home games. Boro ended October with an emphatic 4-0 victory over Dover Athletic thanks to goals from Michael Folivi, Taylor Maloney, Ricky Holmes and Ollie Robinson. The win saw Spencer Day’s side rise to fourth in the table thanks to a superior goal difference than the other three teams in the Play-Off places.
Rob Dray’s men played out a 0-0 draw at Chelmsford City in their last outing. After a strong start to the season, The Peacocks have only won one of their last six games, leaving them in seventh place with the exact same record as Farnborough, but with an inferior goal difference.
Ahead of the trip to Somerset, Farnborough First Team Coach Steve Baker had this to say: “They’re going to be a big, physical, strong side, probably play a similar system to us.”
“It might be very different to some of the games we’ve had in the last couple of weeks. But we’ll know all about them, on the flip side they’ll know all about us.”
“We go there confidently. The only thing we need to do, we need to improve our away form. Taunton’s one of the toughest places to go. So, we know what’s coming but we have to go there, and we have to try and do a job.”
The Yellows travel to the Somerset Campervan Co Stadium still looking for their first away win of the season. Four draws and three defeats have left Boro with the third worst away record in the League.
Meanwhile, Saturday’s hosts have the third best home record this season, with five wins one draw and one loss on their home turf. A record that is only bettered by Farnborough and Yeovil Town.
Boro did the double over Taunton Town last season, winning the first game at home 1-0 thanks to a goal from Omar Rowe and winning the return fixture 2-0 courtesy of a Harry Parsons double.
