Aid Organizations report concerns about expelled Afghan migrants from Pakistan
The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), the Danish Refugee Council (DRC), and the International Rescue Committee (IRC) have expressed their deep concern through a joint statement regarding the situation of hundreds of returning migrants from Pakistan. They emphasize that these migrants have nowhere else to go and need urgent attention to their plight.
On Thursday, these international relief organizations issued a joint statement, shedding light on the uncertain fate of hundreds of thousands of returning migrants from Pakistan. Their report highlights the challenging circumstances these individuals face and underscores the situation’s urgency.
In their joint statement, these organizations have urged neighbouring countries to continue supporting vulnerable migrants until sustainable, safe, and voluntary conditions are established for the return of Afghans to their homeland.
The Organization for the Protection of Children reports that hundreds of Afghan children enter Afghanistan from Pakistan daily, lacking a place to live and the means to afford food.
According to their statistics, more than 120,000 Afghan citizens, including children, have returned to the country in the past six weeks.
The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) added that Afghanistan is currently enduring one of the worst humanitarian crises in recent history.
This comes as the Pakistani government, despite international calls to prevent the expulsion of Afghan migrants, has expelled hundreds of thousands of migrants and issued warnings that undocumented migrants in the country will be detained after a specified deadline.
