Jaxon Johnson, a four-star small forward in the Class of 2024, announced via a live stream with On3 Sports’ Joe Tipton that he has committed to Utah.
He chose Craig Smith and the Utes out of his final four which also included Stanford, USC, and BYU.
“The coaching staff is amazing,” Johnson told Tipton. “Coach Smith is an amazing coach and his past proves it. I love the brand of basketball they play.”
The 6-8 forward led Alta High School (U.T.) to a 24-4 record and the 5A state championship last season. He averaged 16.5 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game. He also made 47 three-pointers on 37% shooting, showing off his ability to stretch the floor.
Johnson becomes Smith’s second class of 2024 commit, joining 6-4 guard David Katoa who committed last year.
He will not start until 2026, as he will go on a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
