A high school in Norwalk dismissed early because of a report that was threatening in nature, police said.
A high school in Norwalk was dismissed early Thursday following some kind of a threat directed toward students and staff there.
Police were made aware of a report that was threatening in nature at Brien McMahon High School Thursday morning and checked the building as school officials placed the facility in a secure school mode, according to the Norwalk Police Department.
Additional officers joined school resource officers already at the high school as detectives simultaneously began investigating to determine the “source of the threat,” Norwalk deputy chief of police Joseph Dinho said in a statement.
The school was dismissed early at about 12:30 p.m. “out of an abundance of caution,” Dinho said.
Police are still investigating. Anyone with information has been asked to contact the Norwalk Police Department at 203-854-3111.
