A CONFIDENT woman has clapped back at haters who criticize her birth mark.
She said the cruel trolls have called her names like “pizza face,” but their actions won’t stop her from loving her skin.
Mik Zazon (@mikzazon) took to Instagram to share her story in a heartfelt post.
“Just because you look a little different, doesn’t mean you have to look like the people mostly shown in media,” she wrote.
“In elementary school I was made fun of for my birth mark. I got called pizza face, tomato face, and other harmful names,” she added.
The name-calling drove her to consider cosmetic procedures to change her appearance.
“I tried to laser it away to make my appearance more comfortable for other people to look at so I was less of a target,” she said.
“I’m forever grateful that laser never ended up working. I wear my birthmark proudly. It makes me, me,” she added.
She mentioned that beauty standards are ever-changing, making it a best bet to stay true to oneself.
“Beauty standards change every day. One minute you are called beautiful being curvy, and the next you are told you aren’t taking care of your health,” she said.
“One minute you are praised for being thin, and the next someone is telling you to eat a cheeseburger.
“No matter what people say about you or me, our worth does not change when standards change.
“Our worth does not change when our bodies change. Our worth has always been and always will be the same. Beauty does not come from appearance.
“Rather, it comes from being you. So completely, uniquely, unapologetically you,” she added.
The post, proudly showing off the birth mark on her face, drew in many comments.
“Your birthmark is gorgeous. I love the idea of having something marked on my body by birth. It tells a story of entering this world. And it reminds me of a dove,” one wrote.
