We can probably go ahead and tell New York’s Empire State Building to chill on changing its lights to celebrate big sporting accomplishments.
The Sphere in Las Vegas has sadly made the old skyscraper’s party trick obsolete.
With a bazillion video boards and LEDs wired entirely around the downtown orb, the Sphere is capable of highlighting major moments in a way no other building can in the United States. Like say, for example, turning into a giant baseball with the Rangers’ logo on it in a stunningly high-definition display to celebrate the team winning the World Series on Wednesday night.
The Empire State Building just can’t compete with this technology without making major upgrades.

This thing will be spinning pitches like a Shohei Ohtani sweeper by MLB Opening Day in 2024 at this rate.
No matter how many times you view videos of the Sphere it still looks fake. This is really going to take some time to get used to. Of course, Rangers fans will say the same about finally winning a World Series.
