A man's body was found in a suitcase floating in a California lake in what residents call a "scary" Halloween discovery, reports show.
A volunteer who was helping to clean Lake Meritt in Oakland made the grisly discovery about 11:30 a.m., according to a local Fox news station.
Kevin Shomo, among the Lake Merritt Institute cleanup crew, described pulling the suitcase from the water, lifting it up and realizing it was much too heavy.

"So we unzipped it and that's what we found," Shomo told KTVU. "I wasn't shocked, but I was surprised it was a body in there."
Shomo said it was a man in his 30s who was in the fetal position, KTVU reported.
An Oakland Fire Department spokesperson told SFGate report the investigation remained ongoing.
Angela Massella told reporters she saw the suitcase bobbing in the water earlier that morning, according to the local Fox report.
"It's really scary for me," she said. "For a body to be around neighborhood here, it's really scary."
