Jennifer Garner Credited This A-List Pal for Being ‘Right There’ When She Needed Support During a ‘Very Hard Moment'

We can wax poetic about the importance of female friendships for days. These confidants and mentors in our lives hold such a significant part of our hearts, and no one knows that better than Jennifer Garner. The actress recently opened up about a difficult chapter in her life, and the famous friend who was there when Garner needed her most.

The Alias alum credited Reese Witherspoon for seriously showing up for her, and explained just how much her support meant during a panel discussion at Hello Sunshine’s Inaugural Shine On Event this weekend. “I think back to being pregnant. This one [Witherspoon] was sitting next to me,” Garner said, per People.

“I think back to going through a very public, very hard moment in my life. She was right there and the way I needed to get through it was dance cardio,” the actress said. Sure, it might come across as silly, but those dance cardio sessions with Witherspoon really got Garner through a lot. “And I danced cardio-d so hard, we broke her foot, but she kept going!” Garner said. “It was like, okay, we worked out at seven on vacation, we’re going to work out again at two. She was like, ‘I’m going to be there. I’m going to be there.'”

Garner never disclosed the event in her life that rattled her so much. But honestly, that detail feels superfluous. What matters here is how Witherspoon was there for her friend, to the point of working out with her even if it meant injuring her foot. Garner’s anecdote regarding her friendship with Witherspoon is such a testament to the importance and power of female friendship, and we just love to see it.
