VIEWERS of Strictly Come Dancing have hit out at Anton Du Beke and his persistent high scores despite him pointing out a series of ‘mistakes’ in some of the couple’s numbers.
Throughout the BBC One dance contest, the former pro handed out higher marks than his fellow judges consistently despite often giving the same criticism as them.
From the show’s opening performance, a Charleston by tennis star Annabel Croft, Anton dished out an impressive score of eight even though he admitted a number of things went wrong in the performance.
His antics have left fans unimpressed as they were left seething by his behaviour as they inferred that he was not being truthful in his scoring.
Whilst speaking to Annabel and her pro partner Johannes Radebe, Anton said: “Your marks would have been sky high if you didn’t have those little couple of moments there where you were, ‘hello, what’s going on’.”
Craig Revel Horwood dished out just a five for the dance whilst Shirley Ballas and Motsi Mabuse both gave her a seven.
He similarly gave an eight to The One Show‘s Angela Scanlon despite her performance being rather ill-received by the panel.
Anton also gave Nigel Harman a higher score than the rest of the panel, a move which appeared to spark fury among fans.
Commenting on his scoring, one fan said: “Anton’s scoring is f***ed up tonight.”
Another penned: “Can we ban Anton for his over scoring?”
A third added: “Anton has started on the ludicrous scores early.”
As a fourth echoed: “Come judges sort your scoring out. How can Anton give Annabel, Nigel and Krishnan all an 8?”
Over recent weeks, Shirley Ballas has also come under scrutiny for her scoring.
Fans have suggested that she was choosing to give lower scores to the younger female stars of the show.
