Georgia judge sets hearing to rule on questions Trump co-defendants' jurors can be asked

A judge in Georgia will decide on the questions that both prosecutors and defense attorneys can ask of prospective jurors in the election racketeering case against two of former President Donald Trump's co-defendants on Monday, reported The Messenger.

According to Alessandro Marazzi Sassoon, Fulton County Judge Scott McAfee stated in his order released on Friday that the "proposed questions" have already been submitted by both District Attorney Fani Willis and attorneys representing Trump-aligned lawyers Kenneth Chesebro and Sidney Powell. The summons for jury selection have been sent to 900 residents.

Scott Grubman, the attorney representing Chesebro, has already objected to some of Willis' proposed questions about the jurors' political activity, claiming this is "inappropriate."

Chesebro and Powell are among the 18 people charged alongside Trump in the alleged plot to stop the certification of votes in the state of Georgia. Trump is also charged separately in a federal case on election interference by special counsel Jack Smith.

According to prosecutors, Chesebro helped draft a memo outlining how to overturn the election, that even he acknowledged was not a legal process. Powell, meanwhile, continually pushed conspiracy theories about the election being stolen, and was allegedly involved in the breach of elections equipment in rural Coffee County, as she and local Republican officials tried to gather evidence to invalidate the election results.

McAfee ruled last month that Chesebro and Powell must be tried separately, before Trump and the other co-defendants, because of how they exercised their right to a speedy trial.
