A FASHIONISTA has wowed with a gown she bought to attend a wedding.
But some commenters warned her to be careful about her choice, as the dress could have unintended implications.
A Redditor posted images of a dress she was planning to wear to a Southern wedding[/caption]Fashion lover NoBite7871 shared photos of herself wearing the dress on Reddit to gauge other’s opinions.
She stated that she was attending an indoor Southern estate wedding in January.
The dress code was “cocktail/semi-formal/dressy casual.”
Many commenters in the wedding attire approval subreddit had the same concerns about her outfit choice.
The poster uploaded two images of her wearing her potential wedding guest attire.
A fashion lover, she had chosen a full-length black dress made from a silky satin material.
The bottom half of the dress was modest and offered a full-coverage skirt.
However, the top half included risqué cut-outs, minimal coverage, and see-through lacy straps.
A significant amount of the original poster’s skin was showing, with only part of her chest fully covered.
The back of the dress was low-cut in a v shape and showed a lot of skin.
The Redditor posted photos of herself wearing the dress to gauge the opinion of others.
She said: “Thoughts? Too slutty? Shoe ideas?”
The consensus from commenters was that the dress looked like lingerie and showed far too much skin.
They were especially concerned as the wedding was in the south, which they said could be conservative regarding fashion.
One person wrote: “This dress looks great on you! But holy heck, I swear it looks like a skimpy nightgown on the upper half!”
Another said: “I thought this was lingerie. It’s not appropriate for a wedding…maybe for afterward though.”
Commenters were vehement in their judgment that the poster should not wear the dress to a Southern wedding.
One wrote: “Do not…and I will repeat that…do not wear this to a Southern wedding.
“It reads like a négligée. When it’s a Southern state, you are going to want to err on the side of dressing a little bit nicer.”
Others even questioned the quality of the dress.
Redditor wrote: “The material looks too thin and cheap like a Halloween costume. If the dress had nicer material perhaps you could pull it off. As it is, it’s a hard no to wearing it in public.”
Commenters advised her against her choice, as they said the dress was too revealing[/caption]
