This is a baaaad beat.
If you bet on No. 21 Missouri for the Week 6 matchup against No. 23 LSU, your college football Saturday got off to a rocky start with a really bad beat, thanks to a very late pick-six.
Missouri (+6) had control for much of the game — including a 25-17 lead at the half — but it allowed LSU to creep back in and take the lead about midway through the fourth quarter. But if you bet Mizzou to just cover instead of outright win, you were still doing OK at this point.
In fact, things were looking good for betters as LSU entered the final minute of the game with just a three-point lead. But with 34 seconds left on second-and-10 on Missouri five-yard line, disaster struck.
LSU safety Major Burns picked off Mizzou quarterback Brady Cook and returned it for a 17-yard touchdown, all but ensuring Missouri wouldn’t be able to win or cover.
A brutal beat for Mizzou +6 backers, as LSU gets a pick-six with 34 seconds left.
LSU hadn’t been covering ALL GAME.
Final score: LSU 49, Mizzou 39
