To ensure that Civil Servants in the State have financial protection and an enhanced quality of life, the Lagos State Government has urged any of its workers with a critical ailment to access the ILERA EKO supplementary benefits package.
The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA), Dr. Emmanuella Zamba, made this known during the stakeholders’ engagement on the Domestication of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) Act and implementation of the Executive Order, held at STO Resource Centre, Alausa, Ikeja, with the Head of Departments and Agencies in Lagos State.
Dr. Zamba said that Civil Servants are key to the economic development of the State, therefore, the need for an additional benefit package is essential for the workforce with Oracle Number. She further stated that some Civil Servants had already benefited from the supplementary package since it was implemented by the Lagos State Government.
The Permanent Secretary, who praised Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his commitment to ensuring that Civil Servants live healthily, stated that the additional benefit package will undoubtedly reduce the psychological, emotional and financial problems that Civil Servants may face when a medical condition arises.
Dr. Zamba explained that with the additional benefit package, any Public Servant diagnosed with Cancer will be able to receive care to the tune of N5 million. This, she added, will cover surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and hospitalisation.
She also noted that in the case of renal dialysis, Civil Servants are entitled to a maximum of one session per week for not more than 52 weeks.
The Permanent Secretary explained that Civil Servants can also have cataract-removal surgery, large fibroid removal, prosthetic limbs, prolonged bed rest and in case of life-threatening emergencies, they are also entitled to CT scan and MRI as required.
To access any of the ILERA EKO additional supplementary benefits, she opined that the condition must be medically justifiable and in line with laid down principles.
The ILERA EKO impaneled Hospitals for additional benefits packages according to her, include Ikorodu GH, Gbagada GH, Island Maternity, Badagry GH, Alimosho GH, General Hospital, Lagos and Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH).
The Permanent Secretary implored Civil Servants to utilise ILERA EKO telemedicine services for non-emergency primary care via EkoTeleMed toll-free line 08000-EKOMED (08000-356633) to speak with qualified medical Doctors via audio or video call in any of the four major languages in the State – English, Yoruba, Igbo or Hausa.
Dr. Zamba promised that the Agency would periodically review the benefit package. She added that the more the residents of the State enrol on the Health Scheme, the more the benefits package can be expanded.
The Permanent Secretary solicited the support of the Heads of Agencies to ensure the domestication of the NHIA Act and implementation of the Executive Order to collectively attain Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in the State.
The Head of Agencies in attendance included the General Managers, EKO FM/Radio Lagos, Mr. Jide Lawal; LTV, Mrs. Sola Kosoko and Lagos State Drivers Institute (LASDRI), Mrs. Afusat Tiamiyu as well as the Executive Secretary, Lagos State Scholarship Board, Mr. Abdul-Rahman Lekki.
