As part of efforts and widespread consultations initiated by the Ekiti State Government to reduce the spate of environmental nuisances in the State, the Ekiti State Commissioner for Environment, Chief (Mrs.) Tosin Aluko-Ajisafe and her delegation paid a working visit to the LAGESC Command Headquarters, Bolade-Oshodi on Thursday.
Receiving the guests, the Corps Marshal, CP Gbemisola Akinpelu (retd) thanked the delegation for the visit, adding that it would create a springboard of engagement and extensive deliberations for inter-state environmental partnership and exchange of workable templates for progress between the two States.
In her speech, the Ekiti State Commissioner for Environment, Chief (Mrs.) Tosin Aluko-Ajisafe expressed gratitude to the Lagos State Government for the continued synergy and warm reception, adding that the interactive session with LAGESC will further create a workable synergy between Lagos and Ekiti to share data on environmental enforcement techniques, recruitment parameters, revision of existing laws and continuous engagement of stakeholders.
She also appreciated the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for maintaining a cleaner and habitable Lagos that remains visible to all.
Permanent Secretary, Ekiti State Ministry of Environment, Mr. Babatunde Alokan expressed the readiness of the Ekiti State Government to gather actionable intelligence within and outside the State as part of concerted efforts to rid the State of environmental nuisances.
The interactive session afforded the visitors a platform for a valuable exchange of ideas through discussions and recommendations on best practices of environmental enforcement.
The visiting delegation from Ekiti State included Engr. Olalusi Ayo, General Manager, Ekiti State Waste Management Authority (EKSIWAMA); Dr. Akinyemi Akinyugha, Project Coordinator, NEWMAP; Engr. Olajide Oluwadare, Representative, Ekiti State Environmental Protection Agency (EkSEPA); Mr. Tunde Balogun, Director, Environmental Health, Sanitation and Mr. Ayodele Aluko, Environmental Safeguards Officer, NEWMAP.
