The U.S. Department of State has begun registration for the Diversity Visa Program (DV) Lottery for fiscal year 2025. Applicants, including Afghan citizens, have until November 7, 2023, to submit their entries, with registration commencing October 4, 2023.
This round grants 55,000 individuals from select countries U.S. permanent residence or a green card via a lottery system, with results in May 2024. Eligibility prioritizes low-immigration countries; high-immigration countries are not eligible.
The registration is entirely online and requires a valid passport. Participants must possess at least a high school education or equivalent and have at least two years of relevant work experience.
Eligible individuals can include their spouses and children in their registration forms, but multiple registrations by the same individual will lead to disqualification. The registration process, available online, is entirely free, and applicants should not make any payments to anyone or any website about it.
