A man wanted out of New Jersey for multiple warrants was located and arrested at a Norwalk hotel on Tuesday, police said.
The Norwalk Police Department’s Detective Bureau was contacted by the Fugitive Task Force from the Prosecutor’s Office of Somerset County, New Jersey on Thursday to assist with locating a wanted fugitive identified as 41-year-old Juan Marales of Edison, New Jersey, according to police.
Norwalk detectives began investigating the whereabouts of Marales, who was wanted for five active warrants on charges of second-degree burglary, two counts of third-degree failure to register as a sex offender, second-degree endangering/abuse/neglect of a child and third-degree aggravated assault on a correctional/sheriff’s officer.
Detectives were able to track him down at the Red Carpet Inn at 469 Westport Avenue, where he was taken into custody without incident, Norwalk police said.
Marales was charged with fugitive from justice and was being held in lieu of a $1 million bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 19, according to Norwalk police.
