Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy stated that left wing extremism in the state is declining and Maoist activities are now limited to a few areas. Reddy attributed this to the state's multi-pronged approach, which includes security measures, development initiatives, and protecting the rights of local communities. He also mentioned that the state government has successfully restricted Maoist activities to certain districts and reduced their numbers. Reddy emphasized the importance of addressing poverty, illiteracy, healthcare, and unemployment as root causes of left wing movements. The government has implemented various measures such as promoting alternative commercial crops, distributing forest land ownership documents to tribal people, and establishing schools in tribal areas for quality education. The CM called for continued collaboration between the Centre and states to combat left wing extremism.
