The real estate sector in India has experienced significant growth in the past two years due to strong consumer demand. The President of realtors' body CREDAI, Boman Irani, emphasized the importance of green construction and sustainable development in the industry. He stated that the sector contributes 7-8% to India's GDP and urged developers to adopt green construction technologies. Irani also called for the government to consider providing input tax credit (ITC) in the residential segment and for more flexibility in the GST rates for developers.
