He accused the JD(S) of joining hands with a "communal party" and said the alliance was contradictory to the party's name. Siddaramaiah also slammed the BJP for sending a fact-finding committee to a violence-hit area, questioning their purpose. He further accused the BJP of destroying the state's economy and claimed that the Congress government had not taken on excessive loans during their tenure.
