Jodie Turner-Smith’s split from Joshua Jackson came as a surprise to just about everyone in their inner circle, including her husband. Sources are openly talking about the news and how shocked they are that their three-year marriage hit a rough patch.
It seems that the former couple had a disconnect as to where they were in their marriage. Turner-Smith was feeling one thing while Jackson was in a different place. “Joshua was clearly caught off guard by Jodie’s decision to divorce,” a source told Us Weekly. “They had their issues, as many couples do — especially two busy actors who are also juggling a child. Joshua obviously didn’t realize it was this bad, that Jodie was this unhappy.”
As shocked at the Little Fires Everywhere star was, “their friends are baffled and trying to understand how this came about,” the insider added. While many outsiders might try to blame their “whirlwind romance” from dating to a family of three in less than two years, their pal doesn’t seem to think that was a factor in their split. “They became glued to each other after the first night they met, and then parenthood soon followed,” they noted. “It was a huge lifestyle change, especially for a free spirit like Jodie. But they seemed so devoted to each other, so everyone is shaking their heads.”
Pals are “hoping there’s still a chance for reconciliation,” but Turner-Smith is reportedly “quite sure of her decision.” The insider said, “The ball is in Joshua’s court, though right now he’s likely trying to sort things out himself.” A divorce is a major life change to process, especially when you don’t see it coming.
