Driver inhaled laughing gas and filmed Snapchat vid moments before killing girl, 17, in horror crash
A SPEEDING driver filmed himself inhaling “hippy crack” and racing up to 98mph before ploughing into a wall and killing his passenger.
Reckless Rohail Jillani had no hands on the wheel when he passed out and slumped in his Mercedes A180.
The white hatchback veered across the road before smashing into a railway bridge on Mancunian Way, Manchester, on January 10 last year.
The 11.30pm horror left 17-year-old Nadia Yusuf dead.
A third person in the car, Shafi Sufi, now 20, survived but was left with serious, life-changing injuries.
Shortly before the smash, Jilliani, 25, was filming a Snapchat clip with one hand, and inhaling balloons filled with nitrous oxide with the other.
A man working near the scene at the time heard an “extremely loud bang”, prosecutor Rachel Widdicombe said.
“It was so loud he thought that the railway arches had collapsed,” she added.
He went to the wreckage and found Jillani conscious, but “dazed and confused”, while his two passengers were unconscious.
Ms Yusuf, who was “looking forward to a bright future” according to her mum, was pronounced dead around two hours later.
Jillani suffered a brain injury in the crash along the 40mph limit road.
He later told police he had no memory of the incident and an “impeccable” driving record with no previous convictions.
Defending, Michael Lavery said Jillani, a university graduate from a “highly respected family”, had “real sorrow” over the smash.
Jillani pleaded guilty to causing death and serious injury by dangerous driving.
He is due to be sentenced on Thursday.
