CT police accuse man of sharing intimate photo of woman with her former co-worker

A New London man accused of seeking revenge on a woman by sharing a nude photo of her with one of her former co-workers has been arrested and charged, Bristol police said.

Jeffrey Doyle, 51, of New London faces charges of unlawful dissemination of an intimate image and second-degree harassment after allegedly sending a series of text messages, which included an inappropriate photo, to an Amazon worker in Bristol and another man on June 5, according to the arrest warrant affidavit.

The charge of unlawful dissemination of an intimate image is Class A misdemeanor It includes when a person “intentionally disseminates by electronic or other means a photograph, film, videotape or other recorded image of” certain body parts, “without the consent of such other person, knowing that such other person understood that the image would not be so disseminated, and such other person suffers harm as a result of such dissemination.”  The law notes that disseminate means to “sell, give, provide, lend, trade, mail, deliver, transfer, publish, distribute, circulate, present, exhibit, advertise or otherwise offer.”

The Amazon worker told Bristol police he initially tried to ignore the unsolicited messages upon first receiving a photo that showed a woman with her breasts exposed, the warrant affidavit said.

The photo was sent from a phone number tied to Doyle and shared with the Amazon worker and another man, the latter of whom ultimately told police he did not know Doyle and was unsure why he was included on the text message group, according to the warrant.

After initially ignoring the photo, the complainant told police he received several more messages that included hotel reservations, a blank screen, what was described as “other random pictures” and what appeared to be the same nude photo already shared but without the victim’s face visible, according to the warrant affidavit. The man said he searched the phone number that was sharing the messages and found that it was tied to Doyle, the affidavit said.

The complainant then found that Doyle had ties to a former co-worker of the Amazon employee, according to the warrant. Bristol police said Doyle and the victim were known to each other.

When investigators spoke to the victim, she told authorities she wanted to press charges, according to Bristol police

Doyle was arrested Sept. 11 and has been held on $5,000 bond since. He is scheduled to appear in New Britain Superior Court on Oct. 25.

Court records indicated Doyle did not enter a plea to the charges during his arraignment earlier this month.
